Using Biomass as renewable fuel
The Isimek biomass-handling systems are designed to effectively transport, store and feed biomass into the thermal boiler system.
The system includes the biomass receiving station, conveying system, storage system and feeding system. Each type of biomass is unique in its size and shape, moisture content, density and chemical composition. These characteristics needs to be taken into account during the design process of each part of the biomass-handling system.
Our systems can accommodate a wide range of biomass fuels, including timber, agricultural residues, municipal solid waste and energy crops.

Thermal oil is used in many industries, including paper, cardboard, refinery, food,
timber, furniture, sugar and beverages.
Each biomass source is analysed to improve the understanding of the biomass characteristics.

Size and shape distribution of the biomass source is determined. Isimek is able to provide creative designs to produce a reliable robust biomass-handling system that will eliminate the need for additional biomass processing (shredding, chipping, grinding).

A biomass-handling system that is able to accommodate high moisture content fuels allows the operator to use a wider variety of fuels.

Screening and sorting is used to remove oversized or irregularly shaped pieces of biomass.

Storage systems offered include vertical silos, moving floor silos, toploader systems, bins and hoppers.

Selection of the type of Biomass feed system into the furnace need to consider biomass specifications as well as combustion requirements. Options include screw feeder, conveyor feed or hydraulic ram feeder systems.

PLC control system ensures a constant feed of biomass to satisfy combustion requirements by monitoring feed systems and implementing level control in hoppers and bin.
